trakl sÉbastopol
Directed by Alexandre Barry, 2018

SYNOPSIS
In a modest office overlooking Boulevard de Sébastopol, actor Yann Boudaud and director Claude Régy share a final work session on Rêve et folie, the intense, disturbing poem by Georg Trakl (1887-1914). Under the eye of filmmaker Alexandre Barry, this rehearsal becomes an intimate journey through Trakl's dazzling poetry, between silence and outbursts. As night falls, passers-by and cars pass in the background, like shadows of an outside world. On screen, twilight superimpositions emerge, evoking reminiscences of a forgotten dream. A meeting point between a poem, an actor, a director and a filmmaker, this film captures the essence of a suspended moment, when creation becomes an exploration of the human soul.

TRAILER

Alexandre Barry was born on 14 August 1969. After studying drama, he moved to Paris in 1990 and studied with Claude Régy, becoming his assistant. His fundamental discovery of Ingmar Bergman's work led him to make his first film, “À la recherche d'Erland Josephson”, a portrait of the Swedish actor and writer Erland Josephson, in 1996. This encounter gave rise to three other films devoted to the Swedish artist: “Erland Josephson, proche” in 2001, “Liv Ullmann & Erland Josephson, parce que c'était eux” in 2004 and “Erland Josephson, lointain secret” in 2007. These four films, brought together under the title “Erland, The Only Face”, form a portrait of an extraordinary artist, made up of four one-hour films over a period of twelve years. From 2003 to 2016 he made a trilogy devoted to the work and personality of director Claude Régy. “Claude Régy, par les abîmes” in 2003, “Claude Régy, la brûlure du monde” in 2005 and “Du régal pour les vautours” in 2016.
Other films and other faces have marked his career, including: “Bulle Ogier, présence non identifiable” in 2006, “Jan Fabre, chevalier du désespoir” in 2007. In 2011, he directed his first feature film, shot in the United States, “Good Luck on The Road - Solo Pour Robert Frank”. In 2012, he directed “Brume de Dieu”, a film adaptation of Claude Régy's Brume de dieu, based on Les oiseaux by Tarjei Vesaas. In 2014, “Tout seul avec mon cheval dans la neige”, a feature-length documentary in tribute to the artist Axel Bogousslavsky.
