Mathieu Morel

Originally from the Centre region, Mathieu Morel moved to Paris in 2014 to study cinema. He acted in *Permis de construire* and until 2020 in *L'odeur du sans plomb*, where he played the lead role alongside Denis Lavant, Bertrand Bonello, and Mathieu Carrière.

In 2015, he co-founded the Horschamp association – Rencontres de Cinéma with Léolo, which is sponsored by Thierry Frémaux and aims to promote heritage cinema and organize meetings and discussions with numerous artists. In 2018, he directed *Night of the Living Sluts*, which allowed him to join the program at La Fémis residency until July 2019. His graduation film, *Aussi fort que tu peux*, was selected for numerous festivals and won the Best Short Film Award at the Rome LGBT Festival. In 2020, he directed a version of *Beauty and the Beast*.

In 2022, Mathieu directed *Cum in my Heart* (or the fabulous letting go of Thomas Timbère), *Killing Myself Tomorrow*, as well as *Love et ex Mortuus*, his first medium-length film for which he received the Jeunes Sortis d'Écoles support from the CNC, produced by Local Films. The films *404ERROR* and *The Deepqueer Massacre* (Local Films) were also released in 2023.
