Fred Poulet

A childhood in the Vosges, followed by adolescence in Mulhouse, preceded his move to Paris at the end of the 1980s. Drawn to both writing and imagery, Fred alternated between working as a set decorator on film sets and writing songs. In 1992, Pierre Barouh discovered him and invited him to join Saravah, an unconventional label that launched artists like Jacques Higelin and Brigitte Fontaine. Fred recorded three albums with them and gained notoriety thanks to the musically sporty "hit" *Walking Indurain*. Saravah also gave him the opportunity to take his first steps behind the camera by producing his music videos in 1996 and 1997.

His encounter with Rodolphe Burger, leader of Kat Onoma, allowed Fred to direct his first commissioned music video for another artist in 2001. Since then, he has divided his time between recording personal albums (such as *Milan AC*, the most recent of which was released by Label Bleu in 2004), directing music videos for himself and other artists (Piers Faccini, Las Ondas Marteles, Franck Monet), and writing for other performers (Seb Martel, Jeanne Balibar).

His meeting with Vikash Dhorasoo took place in 2003, following an editorial published in *Vacarme* magazine.
